Coming of age comedy inspired by the true story of a nerdy, alienated, hopeful filmmaker named Pat Johnson about growing up, falling in love, and becoming the very first fan of the movie that changed everything, Star Wars.

During the spring of 1977, Pat Johnson (John Francis Daley, Game Night), a sci-fi obsessed teenager, spends all of his free time making 8mm knockoffs of his favorite movies.

Desperate to help Pat escape the fate of small Midwestern town life, Pat’s mother Janet (Colleen Camp, Wayne’s World) makes a phone call to the editor of ‘American Cinematographer’ magazine and suddenly Pat is invited to visit the magical world of Hollywood where he becomes the very first outsider to see the film that would change movies forever… Star Wars.

But when Pat returns back to the reality of his tiny home town, he struggles to choose between chasing his dreams of becoming a famous movie director or remaining trapped in the familiar world of his childhood.
